The Problem

UniLah, Malaysia's largest student community platform, was growing rapidly — connecting 100k+ students with brands and creators across 20+ universities. The platform needed technical leadership to scale systems, stabilize performance during high-concurrency campaigns, and establish engineering practices.

My Role

As Technical Lead, I owned the technical direction for a 5-month engagement:

Key Contributions

• System Scalability — Led architectural direction to ensure the platform could handle peak usage during campus-wide events and engagement campaigns
• Multi-Surface Coordination — Coordinated backend, mobile (React Native), and cloud infrastructure workstreams
• Engineering Standards — Established CI/CD workflows, code review processes, and delivery quality standards to reduce regressions
• Performance Stabilization — Improved deployment reliability and system performance across the platform

Impact
